IT / AV Migration Runbook
IT is frequently the largest overlooked line item and the biggest source of move-day failure. Use this phased runbook to plan the cutover.
Migration phases
- Inventory & classify — Catalogue servers, endpoints, network, AV, and what is retired vs moved. Assign a move-group tier.
- Risk & dependency map — Identify systems of record, cutover dependencies, and the maximum tolerable downtime per service.
- Parallel run — Stand up the new environment alongside production; validate before cutover where possible.
- Cutover window — Execute during the lowest-traffic window; freeze changes; run the runbook step by step.
- Verification — Smoke-test connectivity, auth, apps, phones, and AV before declaring success.
- Rollback plan — Define the trigger and steps to revert if verification fails within the window.
